3 ECPG - Embedded SQL in C

This chapter describes the embedded SQL package for PostgreSQL. It was written by Linus Tolke⁽²⁾ and Michael Meskes⁽³⁾. Originally it was written to work with C. It also works with C++, but it does not recognize all C++ constructs yet.

This chapter describes ecpg but does not provide a complete reference for embedded SQL in general. Additional information about embedded SQL can be found in Part 5 of the SQL standard, and many other resources about SQL.
