10.4 Informing others about commits
It is often useful to inform others when you commit a new revision of a file. The ‘-i’ option of the ‘modules’ file, or the ‘loginfo’ file, can be used to automate this process. For more information, see section B.1 The modules file and section B.4.4 Loginfo. You can use these features of CVS to, for instance, instruct CVS to mail a message to all developers, or post a message to a local newsgroup.
